Brown employed a strategic scoring approach during his round, creating mini-challenges for himself to maintain focus. "I was trying to make many matches to myself, saying 'OK, let's try to shoot 2 under par on the last two holes,'" Brown explained after his round.

Despite monitoring the cut line, which hovered between 3 and 4 under par, Brown stayed composed through crucial moments, including a critical nine-foot par putt on the 17th hole. His tactical mindset offers valuable lessons for recreational golfers - setting small, specific goals throughout a round can help maintain focus and prevent getting overwhelmed by the bigger picture.

This tournament marks Brown's first professional paycheck, having chosen to turn pro directly instead of pursuing collegiate golf. The young pro also expressed excitement about using his high school Spanish skills during his time in Mexico, adding an extra dimension to his breakthrough professional achievement.

"I'm super happy to come down here to Mexico and speak some Spanish," Brown shared. "I'm having so much fun here at the resort and I can't wait for the next two days."
