3 Key Rule Changes TGL Needs to Reach Its Full Potential
The TGL has made an impressive start, but there are three key rule changes that could enhance the competition:
The Hammer Rule Adjustment

Golf simulator with projection screen
Currently, teams can hold The Hammer indefinitely or use it unlimited times. This leads to potential exploitation, as seen when Atlanta Drive GC successfully used this strategy against New York.
Proposed change: Implement mandatory usage of The Hammer twice per match (once per session) to increase strategic gameplay and prevent teams from simply holding onto it.
Time and Hole Format Revision

The current 15-hole format with a 40-second shot clock creates rushed gameplay while matches still exceed two hours.
Proposed change: Reduce to 12 holes total (six triples, six singles) and extend the shot clock to one minute. This would allow more player interaction and strategic insights while maintaining pace.
Playoff Format Enhancement

The current best-of-three closest-to-the-pin playoff in the GreenZone doesn't fully utilize TGL's impressive technology.
Proposed changes:
- Option 1: Implement sudden-death triples playoff on randomly selected holes
- Option 2: Full closest-to-the-pin competition on the simulator screen, with combined team distances determining the winner
These adjustments would enhance competition while maintaining the entertainment value that makes TGL unique.
