Augusta National 'In Spectacular Condition' For 2025 Masters Despite Hurricane Helene - Fred Ridley
Augusta National Golf Club is "in spectacular condition" just months after Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to the property in October, according to Masters chairman Fred Ridley.
The hurricane devastated parts of southeastern USA, causing extensive damage to the golf course and iconic Magnolia Lane, with multiple trees being felled by strong winds. Drone images at the time revealed dramatic changes to the landscape.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship, Ridley provided an encouraging update:
"As far as the impact, we have not quite as many trees as we did a year ago. The golf course is in spectacular condition. We had minor damage to the playing surfaces themselves, but we were able to get that back in shape. I don't think you're going to see any difference in the condition for the Masters this year."

Ground crews began restoration work as soon as weather conditions permitted. The club also donated $5 million to hurricane relief efforts to support the broader Augusta community, which experienced widespread power outages and water shortages.

"I'm most proud of the response of our entire organization to that natural disaster," Ridley added. "Not only what they did to get Augusta National back in shape but how they pitched in with the Augusta community."
The 2025 Masters Tournament is scheduled for April 10-13 at Augusta National Golf Club.
