Fred Couples: 'Tiger Woods In Great Spirits' Despite Latest Achilles Recovery
Tiger Woods is "in great spirits" despite his recent ruptured Achilles tendon that required surgery, according to close friend Fred Couples.
After exchanging text messages with Woods, Couples shared positive updates about the 15-time major champion's mindset as he begins his latest recovery journey. Woods has faced multiple challenges recently, including the passing of his mother and the Achilles injury that forced him to withdraw from the Players Championship.
"He's in great spirits for a ruptured Achilles, he really is," Couples said. "He'll be fine."

According to Couples, Woods has remained upbeat, celebrating his daughter Sam's soccer state championship victory before his injury occurred. "He was on cloud 20, it was amazing," Couples noted.

While Woods will miss the Masters in April along with 15 other past champions, his return timeline remains uncertain. However, his positive attitude suggests he's mentally prepared for the rehabilitation process ahead.
The injury occurred during training at his home in Florida, requiring surgery on his left Achilles tendon. Though Woods seems unlikely to compete in any majors this year, his close friend Couples emphasizes that he remains determined and optimistic during his recovery.
