Genesis Invitational Features White Flag Tribute to Tiger Woods' Mother at Torrey Pines
The Genesis Invitational is honoring Tiger Woods' late mother, Kultida, with a special tribute at Torrey Pines' South Course. The seventh hole pin flag will be displayed in white without logos or numbers throughout the tournament, symbolizing important elements of Buddhism - Kultida's faith.
The white flag carries deep meaning in Buddhist culture, representing purity, wisdom, and longevity. Additionally, the number seven holds significance as it relates to Buddhism's seven factors of enlightenment.

Kultida, who passed away at age 80, was instrumental in shaping Tiger's career and traditions. She initiated his iconic Sunday red attire, believing it to be his power color as a Capricorn. She also established the tradition of gifting him annual Tiger headcovers with "Rak jack Mea" (Thai for "Love from Mom") sewn on them.
Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the tournament he hosts, stating he is "still processing her loss." However, he expressed hope to visit Torrey Pines later in the week. The tribute serves as a touching reminder of Kultida's lasting impact on both Tiger and the sport of golf.
This meaningful gesture acknowledges Kultida's role as Tiger's "biggest fan and greatest supporter," who remained actively involved in his career until her final days, having attended his TGL match at SoFi Center in Florida shortly before her passing.
