Rory McIlroy has made a passionate plea for unity between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, emphasizing that all players have benefited from the competition between the tours. Speaking ahead of the Genesis Invitational, McIlroy addressed the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Public Investment Fund.

"For me, we've all done better from all of this. Whether you stayed on the PGA Tour or you left, we have all benefited from this," McIlroy stated, pointing to the increased prize money, including the $20 million purse at the Genesis Invitational.

The World No.3 urged players to move past any lingering resentment, saying, "Let's move forward together and let's just try to get this thing going again and do what's best for the game."

McIlroy revealed he recently played golf with former President Donald Trump, who could play a crucial role in the negotiations. Trump's significant influence in the Middle East, including direct access to LIV Golf governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan's superiors, could help facilitate an agreement.

Interestingly, McIlroy shared that Trump himself isn't a fan of LIV's format, despite hosting their events. "He was like, 'Yeah, but it doesn't mean that I like it.' So I think he's on the Tour's side," McIlroy recalled from their conversation.

The comments come as PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott recently met with President Trump to discuss potential pathways to reunification, suggesting progress in the ongoing negotiations between the tours.
