Jason Day Fears Bold Masters Outfits May Face Augusta National Rejection Again
Jason Day faces uncertainty over his planned Masters apparel for 2025, following last year's controversy when Augusta National asked him to remove a "busy" Malbon Golf sweater vest during the tournament.
Day revealed that he and Malbon are seeking clearance for their planned outfits, though he's skeptical about approval. "So we have to get clearance on the scripting this year. To Malbon's credit, they've got some bold stuff, but I'm not sure if it'll pass," Day said.
The controversy began at the 2024 Masters when Day wore a white sweater vest with prominent "No. 313 Malbon Golf Championship" lettering. Augusta National requested its removal during Round 2, which Day respectfully obliged, acknowledging the tournament's prominence.

Day, currently ranked No. 34 in the Official World Golf Ranking, continues to sport Malbon's distinctive style at other tournaments. At the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he notably wore "all sweats head-to-toe," generating mixed reactions from fellow professionals and fans alike.
"There's good and bad when you're trying to shake the tree a little bit," Day commented on his fashion choices. "Some of the style is either love it or hate it, and that's OK, because they have golf gear and streetwear."
While Day's exact Masters attire remains uncertain, he's confirmed for the tournament starting April 10, having qualified through his top-50 ranking last year. One thing's certain - sweatpants won't be making an appearance at Magnolia Lane.
