LIV Golf Captain Louis Oosthuizen Working Towards South African Event In 2026
LIV Golf's Stinger GC captain Louis Oosthuizen has revealed plans are underway to bring a LIV Golf event to South Africa in 2026. The team has been working on this initiative since March 2024, coordinating with the Sunshine Tour to make it happen.
"There's a lot of work going on behind the scenes," Oosthuizen told Golf Monthly. "We are fighting hard to get it in but there needs to be a lot of things to align."

Oosthuizen also addressed the appointment of Trevor Immelman as new OWGR Chairman, expressing hope for LIV players to receive world ranking points. He suggested a potential solution where Majors could allocate specific spots to different tours, including LIV Golf.

"I think it's more the case of each Tour being assigned spots in Major championships," Oosthuizen explained. "At the moment, the ranking system is so far off and it's a big job that he's (Immelman) got ahead of him to try and get the rankings to where it's a true ranking system."

Stinger GC, featuring South African players Oosthuizen, Dean Burmester, Branden Grace, and Charl Schwartzel, finished seventh in team standings for 2024. The 2025 LIV Golf League season begins in February with 14 tournaments planned across various locations.
