Niemann Secures US Open Entry After Third LIV Golf Victory in Mexico City
Joaquin Niemann has secured his spot in the 2025 US Open at Oakmont following his third LIV Golf victory of the season at Chapultepec Golf Club. This win marks his fifth total LIV Golf triumph, matching Brooks Koepka's record.
The Chilean's position in the standings cannot be overtaken by non-exempt players before the May 19 cutoff date, guaranteeing his US Open participation. This will be his first US Open appearance since 2023, having missed last year's tournament at Pinehurst No.2.

Niemann is now set to compete in each of the first three men's Major Championships this year, having already received a PGA Championship invitation. He also has an opportunity to qualify for The Open through LIV Golf's exemption system, which offers a spot to the highest-placed non-exempt player in the top 5 of the standings after LIV Golf Dallas on June 29.
Currently, Niemann leads the standings by over 30 points ahead of Jon Rahm, with Sergio Garcia 46 points behind in third place. LIV Golf victories award 40 points, with 30 points for second place and 24 for third.

Man celebrates with Olympic gold trophy
Despite his recent success, the 26-year-old's Major championship record remains modest. In 23 Major appearances, he has yet to secure a top-10 finish, with his best result being T16 at the 2023 Masters. However, he has made the cut in his last four Major appearances and recently finished T29 at Augusta National.
"I'm grateful that I'm not playing 36 holes on a Monday after a tournament," Niemann commented after his Mexico City victory, referring to avoiding the US Open qualifier. "I feel like I wanted to be there, so it's great to keep doing what I'm doing, hitting the ball great, making putts, and hopefully keep it rolling."
