PGA Pro Jason Day Tests TaylorMade's New Zero Torque Spider Putter at Bay Hill
Jason Day, former World No. 1 and renowned putter, has been spotted testing a new TaylorMade Spider 5K-ZT putter ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. This switch comes as Day currently ranks 156th in Strokes Gained putting in 2024, down from his 9th place ranking last season.

The Spider 5K-ZT features a center-shafted, on-set design typical of zero torque putters. Day's model includes a single short sightline on the top of the face, differing from other versions seen with single sight dot alignment aids. The putter maintains a similar shape and size to the Spider Tour X.
Notable features include:
- PureRoll insert
- Three-weight sole design (heel, toe, and center-back)
- Vivid blue sole plate
- Black head with silver top line and front wings
- Black KBS Tour putter shaft

Interestingly, Day is among the first non-contracted players to test these TaylorMade zero torque putters. Currently, only two players in the world's top 34 use zero torque putters, showing limited adoption at the elite level despite growing popularity among amateurs.
While retail availability remains uncertain, the putter's design and connection to the popular Spider Tour series suggests potential market success if released to the public. The contrasting color scheme particularly aids alignment, making it an attractive option for golfers struggling with putting accuracy.
