PGA Tour-Bound Gordon Sargent Dropped From Vanderbilt Team Amid Performance Slump
Gordon Sargent, the highly-rated Vanderbilt college golfer, has been left out of the team's lineup for the Valspar Collegiate - marking the first time he's been omitted without a tournament conflict.

The 21-year-old, who has secured his PGA Tour card through the PGA Tour University Accelerated system, has struggled with form in 2025. His three starts this year have resulted in finishes of 63rd, 54th, and 74th - a significant decline from his previous performances that helped him reach World Amateur Golf Ranking's top spot.
Despite earning PGA Tour playing privileges in June 2024, Sargent chose to defer his card for a year to complete his college career. He previously cited college golf as "the best time of your life" when explaining his decision to stay at Vanderbilt.

- Low amateur honors at the 2023 US Open (T39)
- Undefeated performance at the 2023 Walker Cup
- Appearances at the 2023 Masters
- Multiple collegiate victories
Currently ranked 11th in the WAGR, Sargent faces crucial upcoming events including:
- Mason Rudolph Championship title defense
- SEC Championships
- NCAA Regionals
- NCAA Division I Championship
After completing his collegiate career in May, Sargent will join the PGA Tour with full status through the 2026 season.
