PGA Tour rookie Max Greyserman nearly abandoned his professional golf career following a wrist surgery in 2022, before making a remarkable comeback that has him positioned 37th in the Official World Golf Ranking and likely headed to Augusta.

During his recovery period, Greyserman actively explored alternative career paths, including real estate and finance, spending time at his brother-in-law's real estate office and connecting with former Duke classmates working in New York City's financial sector.

However, this exploration of different possibilities ultimately strengthened his resolve to return to golf. "I just decided that my story wasn't finished in golf, and just kind of woke up one day and said 'back to work, get this wrist thing over with and then right back to work,'" Greyserman explained on GOLF's Subpar podcast.

The decision proved fruitful – upon returning to the Korn Ferry Tour post-surgery, he finished 9th and successfully transitioned to his rookie year on the PGA Tour.

Greyserman credits his wrist injury for providing valuable perspective. "It showed me what life would have been like had I not played golf, and I think I was OK with that," he reflected. "The fact that I was OK with Plan B gave me perspective to go chase Plan A, which was pro golf."

His journey from considering retirement to potentially playing at Augusta demonstrates the unpredictable nature of professional sports careers and the importance of perseverance through setbacks.
