Professional golfer Dale Whitnell achieved a remarkable feat by making two holes-in-one during the same round at the South African Open Championship. These were his first aces in a sanctioned event after 153 professional starts and 460 rounds.

The first ace came on the par-3 2nd hole, using a 7-iron from 178 yards. Just ten holes later, Whitnell scored his second hole-in-one on the par-3 12th hole with a 58-degree wedge from 128 yards. The ball bounced just beyond the hole before spinning back in.

This accomplishment makes Whitnell only the fourth player in golf history to record two aces in a single round. The historic performance came during a stellar round of 9-under 63, which moved him from near the cut line into the top 10 of the tournament.

The feat occurred during an already notable week in professional golf, following Jake Knapp's 59 at the Cognizant Classic the day before, making him just the 15th player to break 60 in a round.

"It was mad," Whitnell said in his post-round interview. "I'm still playing so the adrenaline's still going. Five under through three is a pretty nice start. Eight under so far today is pretty solid today."

With two rounds remaining in the tournament, Whitnell positioned himself well for a strong finish, though his pair of aces will likely remain the most memorable aspect of his week regardless of the final outcome.
