Rory McIlroy has reflected on the extraordinary aftermath of his career Grand Slam completion at The Masters, revealing conversations with two presidents and widespread support from people across all walks of life.

Following his historic playoff victory over Justin Rose at Augusta National, McIlroy took time to celebrate with family in London and Belfast, visiting his parents and lifelong coach Michael Bannon. He skipped the RBC Heritage to appreciate the magnitude of his achievement.

"It's not every day you get to fulfill one of your lifelong goals and dreams," McIlroy said. "The way the whole journey resonated with people has been absolutely amazing."

The five-time Major champion noted that his victory touched people far beyond the golf world. "I spoke to two presidents the day after, which was pretty cool. People reached out from all walks of life - sports, entertainment, culture - people you'd never think would watch golf."

McIlroy believes his triumph resonated deeply because people could relate to his decade-long journey. "People can see themselves in the struggle, and everything you try to put into getting the best out of yourself. I think watching someone finally get it done after trying for over a decade really connected with a lot of people."

Now returning to competition at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Shane Lowry, McIlroy aims to build on his historic Masters victory while still savoring the career-defining moment.
