Sergio Garcia Returns to PGA Championship After Two-Year Absence Following Special Invite
Sergio Garcia has received an invitation to compete in the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow from May 15-18, marking his return to the Major for the first time since 2022.

The LIV Golf star, currently ranked 461st in the world, will join the 156-player field despite being well outside the typical top-100 ranking qualification criteria. This follows a successful 2024 season where Garcia finished third in the LIV Golf individual standings and secured his maiden victory in the League at Andalucia.
Garcia's Major championship appearances have been limited since joining LIV Golf, missing both the PGA Championship and The Open in 2023, as well as both Majors in 2024. This ended his streak of Major appearances that dated back to 1999.

The 2017 Masters champion has shown recent form that justifies his invitation, including a T12 finish at the 2024 US Open. He has also rejoined the DP World Tour in pursuit of European Ryder Cup qualification.
Garcia's history at the PGA Championship includes two runner-up finishes (1999 and 2008), though he currently faces a streak of seven consecutive missed cuts at the event since 2016. He will first compete at The Masters in April, where he holds a lifetime exemption from his 2017 victory, before attempting to improve his PGA Championship record at Quail Hollow in May.
