Stunning Mischit: Jutanugarn's Whiffed Chip at 18th Costs Chevron Championship Lead
Ariya Jutanugarn suffered a costly mistake on the final hole of the Chevron Championship, squandering her solo lead and forcing a five-way playoff.
Leading by one shot heading to the par-5 18th hole, Jutanugarn's chip shot from just off the green moved only three inches, leading to a bogey that dropped her to 7-under par.
The error erased what had been a strong performance, including an eagle at the fifth hole and two birdies earlier in the round.

Jutanugarn's mistake created a five-way playoff between herself, Ruoning Yin, Hyo Joo Kim, Lindy Duncan, and Mao Saigo. Despite getting a second chance in the playoff, Jutanugarn was unable to capitalize.
Mao Saigo ultimately claimed her first Major title by making a birdie on the first playoff hole while her four competitors failed to match.

The victory marks Saigo's first Major championship, achieved in dramatic fashion after the unexpected turn of events on the final hole of regulation play.
