Tiger Woods 'In Great Spirits' Despite Achilles Injury, Fred Couples Reports
Tiger Woods is in good spirits despite his recent Achilles tendon injury, according to friend Fred Couples. Speaking at the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach, Couples revealed he's been in regular text communication with Woods since the injury occurred.
"He's in great spirits for a ruptured Achilles," Couples said. "He really is. He'll be fine."

Woods underwent surgery on March 11 after rupturing his left Achilles tendon while training at home. This setback follows his sixth back surgery last September, though he had recovered enough to compete in the PNC Championship with his son Charlie and appear in four TGL matches in early 2025.
Couples mentioned that Woods was particularly enthusiastic when texting about his daughter Sam's high school soccer team winning the Florida High School Athletic Association's Class 2A Championship. The achievement provided a bright spot for Woods, who recently lost his mother Kultida in February.
"Before he hurt himself, he was on Cloud 20," Couples shared regarding Woods' reaction to Sam's team victory. "It was amazing."
No timeline has been announced for Woods' return to competitive golf. His last PGA Tour appearance was at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, where he missed the cut. Woods will become eligible for the Champions Tour when he turns 50 in December.
"It's such a bummer because people think, when's he going to play?" Couples added. "He was scheduled to play a few events, not a ton, but a few events. And you know, his mother passing away would slow anyone down. But he's my man, and texting him is a lot of fun."
