The 15-time major champion experienced sharp pain in his left Achilles while training at home. Dr. Charlton Stucken performed a minimally invasive tendon repair at Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida. The surgery was successful, with doctors expecting a full recovery.

For context on potential recovery time, Bernhard Langer returned to competitive golf three months after tearing his Achilles in February 2024. Langer underwent the same "SpeedBridge" procedure as NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was throwing footballs again within three months of his surgery.

This injury adds to Woods' recent health challenges, including:

  • A back surgery in September 2023 (his sixth)
  • Multiple surgeries on his right leg following a 2021 car crash
  • Ongoing rehabilitation and recovery periods

Prior to this injury, Woods had participated in four TGL matches but hadn't played a PGA Tour event since the 2023 Open Championship. He recently withdrew from the Genesis Invitational and had been mourning the loss of his mother, Tida, who passed away on February 4th.

The upcoming major championship schedule includes:

  • The Masters (April 10)
  • PGA Championship (May 15)
  • U.S. Open (June 12)
  • The Open Championship (July 17)

Woods' last public appearance was at a TGL match last Tuesday, where he mentioned his practice had been limited following his mother's passing.
