Tiger Woods Unlikely To Play Players Championship Following Mother's Death
Tiger Woods appears unlikely to participate in next week's Players Championship as he continues to process the loss of his mother, Kultida, who passed away on February 4th. The deadline to commit is 5pm ET this Friday.
During Tuesday's TGL contest, Woods admitted he has barely practiced since his mother's death, stating "My heart is really not into practicing right now." The two-time Players champion has been focused on other responsibilities, including ongoing PGA Tour-PIF negotiations.

Woods' last competitive start was at The Open Championship in July 2023, followed by back surgery. He participated in the PNC Championship with his son Charlie in December and recently played in a social round with former President Donald Trump on February 9.

While Woods was spotted this week at the Seminole Pro-Member event with former PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh and caddie Lance Bennett, he indicated he's not ready to return to tournament play. His next potential appearance could be at The Masters in April, where he is a five-time champion.
The 15-time Major champion still has exemption into The Players Championship through 2025 but has prioritized healing and his administrative duties with the PGA Tour during this period of personal loss.
