Major Course Changes:

  • Hole 2: Extended from 532 to 555 yards, forcing players to use driver or 3-wood instead of shorter clubs
  • Hole 6: Lengthened by 20 yards to 413 yards, plus restoration of overhanging tree
  • Hole 11: Added 15 yards (now 573 yards) with adjusted fairway bunker positioning
  • Hole 14: Slight length increase to 485 yards, with new moguls and trees added right of fairway
  • Hole 16: Extended by 14 yards to 537 yards, creating more challenging approach shots

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler noted these changes during practice rounds, particularly the lengthening of back nine holes. The modifications were made in consultation with two-time Players winner Davis Love III.

Course Statistics:

  • Front Nine: 3,717 yards, par 36
  • Back Nine: 3,635 yards, par 36
  • Total: 7,352 yards, par 72

These adjustments aim to maintain the course's strategic challenge while adapting to modern playing styles. The changes particularly impact shot selection on par-5s and create more demanding tee shots throughout the course.
