Matt Fitzpatrick and veteran caddie Billy Foster have ended their successful six-year partnership. Foster announced the split on Instagram following Fitzpatrick's missed cut at The Players Championship.

During their time together, the pair achieved significant success, including Fitzpatrick's first Major victory at the 2022 US Open at Brookline. They also celebrated wins at the 2023 RBC Heritage and Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, plus a memorable Team Europe victory at the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Foster explained in his Instagram post: "Well after 6 great years, all good things come to an end. This game never stops to frustrate you & infuriate you....!!! Unfortunately times change & ultimately it's the caddie or the coach that has to accept results are not good enough & when you stop enjoying what you are doing it's time for a change."

The split comes during a challenging period for Fitzpatrick, who has dropped to World No.61 - his lowest ranking in nearly a decade. His best finish in 2024 has been T24 at The Sentry.

Earlier this year, Foster had already begun scaling back his caddying duties after 42 years in the profession, sharing responsibilities with Dan Parrott. Fitzpatrick's new caddie has not yet been announced as he prepares for The Masters, now less than a month away.
