Viktor Hovland candidly discusses his ongoing swing changes and current struggles during the 2025 Dubai Desert Classic. As a self-proclaimed "tinkerer," Hovland has experienced significant ups and downs in his recent career, including winning the Tour Championship and achieving top-5 finishes in majors, while also missing cuts at several major tournaments.


After parting ways again with swing coach Joe Mayo, Hovland is now working with TJ Yeaton. His recent performance shows mixed results, with a T36 finish at Kapalua featuring a noticeable hitch in his backswing.

Hovland openly acknowledges his perfectionist tendencies: "I'm certified nuts. There's gotta be some tinkering going on, but that's this game." Despite his frustrations, he maintains perspective by noting his past successes came "with a swing that I hate to look at on camera."

The Norwegian golfer remains cautiously optimistic about his progress, explaining he now has "a better understanding biomechanically" of his swing mechanics. Though the improvements are coming slower than desired, Hovland believes his increased knowledge will help him "stay within the boundaries" of effective swing patterns.
