World No.1 Scottie Scheffler has revealed how a Christmas Day cooking accident led to a hand injury that delayed his 2025 season start. While making homemade ravioli at a rental house, Scheffler cut his hand when a wine glass he was using to cut pasta dough broke, with the stem penetrating his hand.

"We were at a rental house so we didn't have the right tools and the only thing there was a wine glass," Scheffler explained. "I had my hand on top of it and it broke. Since this happened, I've heard nothing but horror stories about wine glasses, so be careful."

Fortunately, a friend who is a surgeon was able to provide immediate medical attention and advice. After successful surgery to remove glass fragments, Scheffler was cleared to return to training and golf activities.

Rory McIlroy jokingly suggested Scheffler could have avoided the incident by hiring a private chef, to which Scheffler responded that his wife Meredith serves as his chef, adding that she's "pretty cute."

Despite missing The Sentry and The American Express tournaments, Scheffler plans to maintain his regular schedule with possibly one additional event. He makes his competitive return at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

"Missing those two events is not fun, I enjoy playing them," Scheffler said. "But just because I missed two, I don't want to change the flow and cadence to my schedule. If I feel like I want to add one to get some extra reps in, then I will."
