17-Year-Old Blades Brown Makes PGA Tour History with Record-Breaking 64 Round
17-year-old Blades Brown made PGA Tour history at The American Express, shooting an eight-under 64 during the second round - the lowest score by a player under 18 in the last 40 years.

Brown's remarkable performance included 10 birdies, surpassing previous teenage records set by Justin Thomas (65 in 2009 at age 16), Tony Finau (65 in 2007 at age 17), and Ty Tryon (65 in 2001 at age 17).
The young golfer's success was driven by exceptional putting, highlighted by six consecutive birdies on holes 12-17. Brown approaches putting as an art form rather than a technical skill, stating, "I'm not an artist, but I'm an artist on the putting green."
What sets Brown apart is his mature perspective on the game. He emphasized gratitude and maintaining perspective as key factors in his success: "I play golf right now for a living, and I promise you, there are a lot more challenging things than playing golf for a living. Whether it's a kid lying in a bed [with] cancer...there's a lot to be grateful for out here."
Through five holes in the third round, Brown stands at 11-under, four shots behind co-leaders Justin Lower and Mark Hubbard, continuing his impressive performance at the tournament.
