American golfer John Catlin secured the Asian Tour's Order of Merit with a T19th finish at the International Series Qatar, building an insurmountable 1,280-point lead with only 1,000 points available at the season's final event.

Catlin's remarkable journey began at Q-School in January after losing his DP World Tour card. He went on to win twice in 2024, joining prestigious company including Thongchai Jaidee, Tom Kim, and Jeev Milkha Singh as Order of Merit champions.

Despite this success, Catlin's dream of securing a LIV Golf League spot remains uncertain. Though he led the International Series Rankings for most of the season, he now trails Peter Uihlein by less than 100 points heading into the final event. Only the top non-LIV player after the Saudi International will earn a coveted league position.

Catlin remains optimistic, having already proven his competitive ability as a LIV Golf stand-in six times this season. His recent success includes winning the Saudi Open and becoming the first Asian Tour golfer to shoot 59 at the International Series Macau.

The season concludes at the PIF Saudi International (December 4-7), featuring a $5 million prize purse and 144 players, including 44 LIV Golf competitors. This final event will determine whether Catlin can achieve his dream of joining the LIV Golf League permanently.

The 34-year-old's ultimate goals extend beyond the immediate future, as he aspires to become both a Major champion and a LIV Golf team captain within the next decade.
