Greg Norman Sets Final LIV Golf Date, Claims Major Impact On Golf's Evolution
Greg Norman has confirmed his final day as LIV Golf CEO will be August 31, 2023, following the Team Championship at The Cardinal at Saint John's Resort. Speaking to Australian Golf Digest in his first interview since being replaced by Scott O'Neil, Norman shared insights about his future plans and LIV Golf's impact on the sport.
Rather than retiring, Norman plans to expand his golf course portfolio from 124 to 250 courses. He will remain involved with LIV Golf by serving on its board, though in a less hands-on capacity than before.

Norman believes he has "changed the game of golf more than what people realize" during his tenure, citing how men's professional golf has evolved with new initiatives and formats. While he won't be watching TGL, the simulator golf league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy due to past tensions, he acknowledges its potential benefit in attracting new fans to the sport.

The relationship between Norman and PGA Tour players, particularly Woods and McIlroy, has been strained since LIV's launch in 2022. Both players previously stated Norman needed to step down for meaningful discussions between tours to occur. Despite this, Norman maintains he would welcome a debate with them about LIV's influence on golf, particularly regarding financial benefits like the Player Impact Program.

Norman expressed confidence in such a potential discussion, stating, "I would love to sit down and talk to them about it... Because I'm not a judgmental person and you only learn the facts and truth when you hear the other side of it."
