Jordan Spieth has provided a positive update on his recovery from wrist surgery, which he underwent in August 2023 after battling ongoing issues that affected his game. The surgery involved recreating a tendon in his left wrist to prevent dislocations and address pain during ground contact shots.

Speaking on SiriusXM radio, Spieth confirmed his wrist has healed according to plan. He began rehabilitation with Nerf balls to work on mechanics without impact, gradually progressing to real golf balls under a controlled ball count. He has now received full clearance to play without restrictions and reports no pain during shots.

Key recovery points:

  • Started with Nerf balls for mechanical work
  • Gradually increased to limited real ball practice
  • Recently received full medical clearance
  • Currently experiences no pain or restrictions
  • Continuing therapy through the new year

Spieth acknowledges some initial rust in his ball-striking but reports steady improvement through focused mechanical work. He's been able to maintain his short game through chipping and putting practice during recovery.

The three-time major champion is preparing for a return to tournament play in January 2024, working to build stamina for playing three consecutive weeks. During his recovery, Spieth also filmed a potential cameo for "Happy Gilmore 2" alongside other golf pros including Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Fred Couples, and several current Tour players.

All signs point to a healthy return to competition, with Spieth focusing on maintaining his therapy routine while rebuilding his competitive form for the 2024 season.
