Lexi Thompson to Step Back from Full-Time Golf, Plans Select Tournament Appearances in 2025
Lexi Thompson is preparing to retire from full-time professional golf but hints at occasional tournament appearances in 2025. Speaking ahead of the CME Group Tour Championship, she clarified that her retirement isn't a complete departure from competitive golf.

"I may tee it up a few times next year," Thompson stated, though specific tournaments remain undecided. The 2014 Chevron Championship (formerly Kraft Nabisco Championship), where she claimed her sole Major victory, is likely to be on her schedule.

Before fully transitioning, Thompson will partner with Rickie Fowler at the Grant Thornton Invitational in December, marking her final professional event of 2023.

Looking ahead, the 29-year-old plans to:
- Focus on her recently launched Lexi Fitness app
- Travel for leisure rather than competition
- Remain involved in golf development and youth programs
- Pursue new hobbies
- Spend more time with family and friends
Thompson's professional career includes 11 LPGA Tour victories. She emphasizes her continued commitment to the sport: "I'm not going anywhere. I am still involved in the game, and I want to lead the impact and get kids involved at a younger age."
