Major Winners Garcia and Reed Enter Asian Tour Event Seeking Open Championship Qualification
Former Masters champions Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed are seeking spots in The Open Championship through the International Series Macau tournament, scheduled for March 20-23. The Asian Tour event offers three qualifying spots for golf's final Major of the season.
Both players have committed to compete at the Macau Golf and Country Club, alongside Garcia's Fireballs GC teammates David Puig, Abraham Ancer, and Luis Masaveu. While Garcia and Reed are already qualified for the Masters as past champions, they currently lack exemptions for other Majors in 2024.

The tournament is part of The Open Qualifying Series, which provides multiple pathways to qualify for The Open Championship. Last year's edition saw John Catlin defeat David Puig in a playoff, with Catlin making history by shooting the Asian Tour's first 59.

This development follows The R&A and USGA's recent announcement that LIV Golf players can now earn exemptions into both The Open and US Open, marking a significant change in Major championship qualifying opportunities for LIV Golf participants.
