Since his T3 finish at the 2023 Masters, Homa has experienced a significant drop in performance, falling from World No. 5 to No. 60, with just one top-10 finish during this period. However, at the recent WM Phoenix Open, despite missing the cut, Homa noticed substantial improvements in his game.

"That's what's so odd about last week is that is the best I swung the golf club like potentially — this is going to sound crazy, but potentially ever," Homa explained during his Genesis Invitational press conference. He particularly noted improvements in his driving accuracy and ball speed.

Drawing inspiration from NFL quarterback Jalen Hurts' quote, "I've had purpose long before anybody had an opinion about it," Homa maintains a long-term perspective on his development. While his recent performance shows positive strokes gained in only eight of 18 tournaments since last year's Masters, he remains committed to his process.

The six-time PGA Tour winner acknowledges the frustration since April but takes pride in his resilience and work ethic. Despite the current struggles, Homa believes his next victory will feel particularly meaningful, stating, "I just thought to myself how much better the next win's going to feel than any win has felt."

His recent performances include:

  • T26 at the Sentry
  • WD at Farmers Insurance Open
  • T53 at Pebble Beach
  • Missed cut at WM Phoenix Open

While the results might not show it yet, Homa's confidence in his technical improvements suggests a potential return to form could be imminent.
