Netflix Sets July 25 Release For 'Happy Gilmore 2' With Star-Studded Golf Cast
Netflix will release "Happy Gilmore 2" on Wednesday, July 25, featuring numerous PGA Tour stars alongside Adam Sandler in the highly anticipated sequel.
The movie, filmed throughout 2024, includes golf scenes shot at Fiddler's Elbow golf club in New Jersey. Pro Shop, a PGA Tour-invested media company, is producing the film through their studio.
Several top golfers are set to appear in the film, including:
- Rory McIlroy
- Scottie Scheffler
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Justin Thomas
- Brooks Koepka
- Xander Schauffele
- Collin Morikawa
- Rickie Fowler
- Jordan Spieth
- Keegan Bradley
- Bubba Watson
- Will Zalatoris
- Tony Finau
Behind-the-scenes footage of the film's production was featured in Full Swing Season 3 on Netflix. Justin Thomas, one of the participating golfers, shared his experience: "That movie, that generation of movies is literally what we grew up on. I realized how many Adam Sandler quotes I use in my daily life when I'm around him... He's a part of my childhood and growing up more than I realized. It was a very cool experience."
The release timing follows the Open Championship, despite earlier speculation from John Daly about an April release around the Masters, and Adam Sandler's suggestion of an early July premiere.
