Rory McIlroy Reveals New Specialized Training Aid During Dubai Desert Classic Prep
Rory McIlroy has revealed the purpose behind a unique, miniature training aid he's using at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. The tiny club, which resembles a junior golf club, serves multiple training functions:
- It's weighted heavier to help McIlroy better feel the clubhead position during his swing
- Features a pre-set grip to prevent his left hand from becoming too strong
- Portable enough to practice with anywhere, including hotel rooms
- Has been part of his training regime since October when working on backswing adjustments

The pre-set grip on McIlroy's training aid is similar to Scottie Scheffler's $10 warm-up tool, which helps develop muscle memory for a neutral grip position at address.

McIlroy is known for incorporating various training aids in his practice routine. At the BMW PGA Championship, he used "The Connector" from Sure-Golf - a molded spongy ball with alignment rods that helps with arm rotation during the swing.
The World No.3 is currently defending his title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, where he's aiming for his third consecutive victory and fifth overall win at the event.
