TGL Technology Glitch Disrupts Tournament Play During LA's Victory Over Boston Common
A technical malfunction during Tuesday night's TGL match created an unusual moment when Tommy Fleetwood's shot wasn't properly tracked by the SoFi Center's technology system. The incident occurred during Los Angeles GC's 6-2 victory over Boston Common.

During the second hole, with LA already leading 1-0, Fleetwood attempted a 167-yard short-iron shot. When he struck the ball, the tracking system failed to register it properly, showing the ball trickling along the ground instead of its actual flight path. This caused confusion among players, including Rory McIlroy, who questioned what had happened.
The system displayed an 'Invalid Reading' message, prompting officials to invoke the TGL rulebook's "inaccurate computation" clause. This rule allows referees or booth officials to call for a re-hit when the competition technology fails to capture a shot properly or produces obviously incorrect output.
Fleetwood's second attempt landed in a bunker left of the green. Despite this setback, LA went on to dominate the match, building a 5-0 lead before Boston Common secured their first point through Adam Scott. Collin Morikawa responded for LA to make it 6-1, with Keegan Bradley claiming the final point against Justin Rose for a 6-2 final score.
The technical glitch highlighted the TGL's preparedness for such situations, with clear protocols in place to maintain fair play while utilizing advanced golf simulation technology.
