Thitikul Storms Back with Epic Eagle-Birdie Finish to Claim $4M CME Championship
Atthaya "Jeeno" Thitikul mounted an incredible comeback to win the CME Group Tour Championship and claim the largest prize in women's golf history - $4 million.
Trailing Angel Yin for most of the tournament, Thitikul made her move on the final two holes at Tiburon Golf Club. She eagled the par-5 17th from 15 feet while Yin missed her birdie putt, erasing a two-shot deficit. Thitikul then stuck her approach on 18 to five feet and converted the birdie to finish at 22-under, securing a one-shot victory.

This marks Thitikul's second win of 2023 and fourth LPGA title overall. The 21-year-old former World No. 1 also secured the Vare Trophy this season despite battling a wrist injury earlier in the year.
The victory brings Thitikul's total earnings for the week to $5 million, including the $1 million bonus for winning the season-long Aon Risk Reward Challenge. This nearly matches her career earnings of $5.8 million entering the tournament and surpasses Nelly Korda's entire season earnings of $4.2 million.
For Yin, who controlled the tournament since Friday and made clutch putts throughout the back nine on Sunday, the runner-up finish marks her second of the season. Despite the disappointing finish, it caps off a breakthrough year that included her first LPGA title and a second-place finish at the Chevron Championship.
