As amateur golfer Luke Clanton contends at the 2024 RSM Classic, he won't be eligible for any prize money due to his amateur status. This continues a notable trend in 2024, where amateurs have made significant impacts on the PGA Tour.

Earlier this year, Nick Dunlap became the first amateur in 33 years to win on the PGA Tour at the American Express. Clanton himself made history by becoming the first amateur in 66 years to achieve top-10 finishes in consecutive PGA Tour starts in July.

Despite being just three shots off the lead after a third-round 68, Clanton, a Florida State junior, will not receive any share of the $7.2 million purse, regardless of his final position.

"I played great, just made some really dumb mistakes coming down the stretch," Clanton reflected after his third round. "I think that's just kind of from experience and kind of feeling that pressure again. I think to get myself another opportunity out here to win again is amazing."
