Tiger Woods has dropped to his lowest-ever world ranking position of 1,341st following his recent achilles surgery. This marks a new career low, surpassing his previous lowest ranking of 1,328th from November 2023.

The 15-time Major champion hasn't competed in an OWGR-sanctioned event since the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Troon. His last world ranking points came from the 2024 Masters, where he maintained his record of 24 consecutive made cuts at Augusta National.

Due to his recent achilles surgery, Woods is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 season. His ranking will likely continue to drop during his absence. Potential return dates could include:

  • December 2025: PNC Championship with son Charlie
  • February 2026: Genesis Invitational at Riviera (which he hosts)
  • April 2026: The Masters

Jack Nicklaus recently expressed confidence in Woods' return to competitive golf, predicting he would "dominate" the senior tour when he becomes eligible at age 50. "Tiger is too much of a competitor to not play," Nicklaus said at The Masters. "He doesn't need money. Tiger will play for competition."

For context, Woods has spent a record 683 weeks as world number one during his career - 352 weeks more than second-placed Greg Norman. Current world number one Scottie Scheffler has accumulated 137 weeks at the top position.
