World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler's Rare Semi-Shank Moment at Pebble Beach Pro-Am
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler surprised fans and media alike by admitting to hitting a 'semi-shank' during the second round of the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, his first tournament back after a holiday hand injury.

Currently T20 at seven under par halfway through the tournament, Scheffler acknowledged struggling with "rust" despite only making two bogeys through two rounds. The most notable mishap came on the par-4 11th hole, where he hit what he described as a "semi-shank" from 82 yards out, leading to one of those rare bogeys.
The incident occurred after a perfect 291-yard drive into the fairway. His wedge shot caught the hosel and found the left greenside bunker, resulting in a bogey after a poor bunker shot and two-putt.
Despite these unusual struggles, Scheffler maintained perspective about his performance: "To only have two bogeys, one of them being with a semi-shank, it's pretty good." He particularly highlighted his miraculous par save on the 18th hole, where he recovered after hitting his drive onto the beach.
Scheffler enters the third round seven shots behind leader Sepp Straka, with his tee time scheduled for 11:56 a.m. ET on Saturday at Pebble Beach.
