World No.1 Nelly Korda Welcomes LPGA Tour's New Slow Play Penalties
The LPGA Tour has announced significant changes to its pace of play policy, implementing stricter penalties to speed up rounds. World No.1 Nelly Korda has expressed strong support for these new measures.
Players will now face:
- Fines for being 1-5 seconds over allotted time
- One-shot penalty for 6-15 seconds over time
- Two-shot penalty for 16+ seconds over time

Korda, who has previously criticized slow play as a "pretty big issue," welcomed the changes, stating "Finally... implementing harsher rules is going to be good for the game of golf." She noted that round times have increased from under 5 hours to typically 5.5 hours in recent years.
Fellow major winner Minjee Lee also supports the new policy, saying "something had to be done at some point" to address pace of play concerns.

The announcement was made during a Tuesday evening meeting, where players raised questions about timing specifics and implementation details. The LPGA Tour's interim commissioner Liz Moore's first major policy change appears to have broad support among players as the tour aims to improve the viewing experience and overall pace of play.
