Bryson DeChambeau's Private Jet Diverted from SMU Playoff Game, Arrives Late by Shuttle
Bryson DeChambeau and several SMU donors faced an unexpected travel delay while heading to the College Football Playoff game between SMU and Penn State. Their private jet was diverted to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, approximately 65 miles from Beaver Stadium, due to overcrowding at State College Regional Airport.
The group, including former NFL running back Craig James and SMU Board of Trustees member Bill Armstrong, traveled to the game via shuttle bus. They were expected to arrive about an hour after the 12 p.m. ET kickoff.

The delay might have been a blessing in disguise, as Penn State dominated the first half with a 28-0 lead, helped by three interceptions from SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings. Game conditions were particularly harsh, with temperatures in the 20s and wind chills in the low teens.
DeChambeau, the defending U.S. Open champion, had just come from competing in the Showdown earlier that week. He was among thousands of SMU alumni and donors who made the journey to State College for this historic first College Football Playoff appearance for the Mustangs.
