Patrick Reed Cards Historic 59 with 11 Birdies at Hong Kong Open
Patrick Reed shot a historic 11-under-par 59 during the third round of the Link Hong Kong Open, becoming just the second player to achieve this feat on the Asian Tour. The remarkable round included 11 birdies and moved him three shots clear of the field.

Starting with five consecutive birdies, Reed carded a front-nine 28 before adding more birdies on the back nine. He closed with three straight birdies on holes 15-17 before making history with a final birdie on the 18th hole.
The American joins John Catlin as the only players to shoot 59 on the Asian Tour, with Catlin achieving the feat eight months earlier at the International Series Macau. Interestingly, Reed was playing alongside Catlin during that historic round.
Currently leading by three shots over Rashid Khan and Nitithorn Thippong, Reed is positioned to secure his first victory since the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open and his maiden Asian Tour title.
"I got up, I felt a little tight but felt ready to go and got out here and had probably one of the worst warm-ups ever," Reed said. "My caddy said 'a warm-up is a warm-up, let's go out and just play golf. Some of your best rounds have come from a poor warm-up.'"
This performance marks a significant moment in Reed's 2024 campaign, during which he has competed across the LIV Golf League, DP World Tour, and Asian Tour circuits.
