Putting Pro-Tips Lead to Pals McNealy and Bramlett Competing for RSM Classic Title
Joseph Bramlett found putting help from fellow pro Maverick McNealy, and now both are contending at the RSM Classic.

Bramlett and McNealy's Stanford connection led to a valuable collaboration. While Bramlett excels in the long game but struggles with putting, McNealy ranks among the Tour's best putters – #1 in 2023 and 19th in 2022.
A few months ago, McNealy shared his putting "blueprint" with Bramlett, focusing on:
- Speed control
- Eye line
- Green reading
- Rhythm and tempo
- Timing
The improvement is already showing. Bramlett ranked 19th in Strokes Gained: Putting through Saturday at the RSM Classic, shooting a third-round 64. If he can maintain Tour-average putting, he could elevate his game to the level of players like Tommy Fleetwood or Shane Lowry.
McNealy's support extends beyond technical advice – he has Bramlett practicing a specific speed drill with coins at least four times weekly. The results are evident in Bramlett's performance, as he sits six shots back from McNealy's lead.
McNealy's commitment to helping his friend succeed is clear: "I would trade 100 trophies to have him on the PGA Tour next year," highlighting his desire to see Bramlett break into the top 125 of the FedEx Cup Fall and secure his Tour status for next season.
