Eight-time PGA Tour winner Stewart Cink has announced his commitment to the PGA Tour Champions from next season. The decision came after missing the cut at the Wyndham Championship in August, which left him 173rd in the FedEx Cup standings.

The 51-year-old explained his reasoning to Golfweek: "I'm grinding to earn myself the right to be back in this exact same position next year trying to make the top 125 except it is only going to be the top 100."

Cink cited multiple factors influencing his decision:

  • Age becoming a factor both on and off the course
  • Desire to compete with peers his own age
  • Better opportunities for success on the Champions Tour
  • Already having claimed his first Champions Tour victory at the Ally Challenge

"I have this window and I don't want to look back and say I didn't take advantage of it," Cink stated. "I've got a chance to maybe do something really good over there. So, I'm moving on. I'm ready. I feel great about it and I'm excited."

Currently, Cink is competing in the PNC Championship alongside his son Connor, where they finished the first round tied for ninth with a nine-under round of 63.
